Hockey | FastPro HF18 | FIH National | Resurface | PST Sport |
About the project: When Gravesham Sports Trust decided that their partly subsided 20-year-old hockey pitch needed replacing, they chose a FastPro HF18 surface from FIH Preferred Supplier, CCGrass. Installed in the summer of 2019, the pitch build included re-levelling the base, before installing a new, dense shock pad followed by the two-tone green FastPro HF turf which was laid on top.
About the surface: FastPro HF18 is an FIH National Standard hockey field, also tested to FIH Multi-Sport, and is designed to be dressed in specially graded sand. It is installed onto a range of approved shock pad systems and is designed to offer a fast, true and consistent game for hockey players, at all levels of the sport. Whilst FastPro HF18 is primarily a hockey surface, it can also be used for recreational football, school tennis and netball.
Quote from client:
“As Chairman of Gravesham & Wellcome Hockey Club and also Gravesham Sports Trust (the charity that manages the pitch), I can say that since the first time the pitch was used, during our opening ceremony, right up until the last game played, I have received so many positive comments – not only from members of the home clubs but also from the visiting teams.”
“The pitch plays very fast and true – especially when wet. Players know that an accurate pass can be performed the length of the pitch and the ball does not deviate. The bounce of the pitch is perfect – any aerial balls are quickly brought under control after the first bounce.” Simon Chapman, Chair of Gravesham and Wellcome HC/Gravesham Sports Trust.
“Since PST Sport resurfaced the GWHC home pitch with CCGrass, we have seen a number of benefits as a club and for the First XI team. Firstly, the quality of the pitch itself has resulted in a higher level of hockey being played across our teams. This is due to the pitch being more fun to play on, resulting in higher turnout to our training sessions, but also due to it being quicker and more repeatable, allowing more expansive hockey.” “The first team is currently unbeaten for the 2020/21 season and top of the Kent Open Premier A division. Having access to a premium home surface has contributed to our style and quality of hockey since it’s installation and has increased our pride for the club members when hosting matches.” Gravesham and Wellcome 1st Team Captain, Jordan Jenkins.
Quote from CCGrass:
“The resurface pitch project at Gravesham has proven a huge success with the players and wider community. It has resulted in a high-quality hockey pitch that will help to deliver a consistent game for many years to come. We look forward to a continued relationship with the club.” CCGrass UK CEO, Bryn Lee.
