Rugby Stemgrass EX2 60PU World Rugby New build CLS Sports

About the project: After Woodhouse Grove School’s initial CCGrass pitch was completely submerged in 2015 due to localised flooding, they once again chose to use a CCGrass surface, with CLS Sports contractors to carry out the refurbishment works. The flooding completely lifted the previously laid artificial grass, and created huge ripples in the carpet. The damaged carpet was removed, the base repaired, and the new CCGrass surface, Stemgrass EX2 60PU was installed onto an insitu pad, providing them with a top-quality rugby/football system. The system has recently surpassed World Rugby testing requirements again and the pitch has received its 2022 test report (see below).

About the surface: Stemgrass EX2 is a specially designed rugby system, designed to be installed over shock pads to provide a great rugby performance. The longer Stemgrass fibres provide a “green” top, whilst the curly yarn (“thatch”) further down in the turf, stabilises the infill layer, at the base of the turf. This provides a better grip for pushing on and reduces infill “splash”. Stemgrass EX2 is also a great football surface.

Quote from CCGrass:

“Perhaps the most impressive feedback I received during my visit, was a comment made by one of the Academy players. He said that the pitch felt very natural underfoot, a “world away” from other synthetic turfs he has played on.” CCGrass CEO, Bryn Lee.
